VA Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiative (CFOI)

 

Purpose:

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiative (CFOI) is an office located in Washington DC.  Our mission is to engage, educate and inform faith-based, community, and non-profit organizations about the VA tools and resources that will equip them to better serve the Veterans, their families, survivors, caregivers, and other beneficiaries within their congregations/organizations

 

Objectives:

Connect faith-based and community organizations (FBCOs) with VA program and services to promote hope, help and resilience for Veterans experiencing mental health concerns and/or conditions to reach the 20 million Veterans nationwide by:

 

1.   Partnering with organizations to host outreach events that serve our Veterans, their families, and beneficiaries

2.   Breakout sessions

3.   Suicide prevention training by a trained VA suicide prevention coordinator (SPC)

4.   Veteran Benefits

5.   Veteran homelessness,

6.   Opioid epidemic

7.   Survivors assistance

8.   And much more!

9.   Strengthen FBCO partnership through:

10.   Coordinating clergy specific suicide prevention training,

11.   Volunteering

12.   Establishing a Veterans welcome ministry/center.
